Visit from Brussels: EU delegate Wölken visits GEH Wasserchemie

Eine Werkshalle von GEH

On 25 February 2020, Tiemo Wölken, Member of the European Parliament, was a guest at GEH Wasserchemie. Mr. Wölken, himself from Osnabrück, is a member of the European Parliament's Environment Committee and is therefore intensively involved in topics related to water treatment and water resources.

GEH Wasserchemie is the inventor and manufacturer of granular ferric hydroxide, which is mainly used for arsenic and vanadium removal in drinking water treatment. Another application of GEH® is the phosphate removal in environmental applications. The production, mode of operation and research into further fields of application were the topics of a joint discussion. The environmental protection measure to reduce the arsenic levels in drinking water in 1990 is regarded as the founding idea of GEH Wasserchemie. In Europe, the Drinking Water Directive has just been revised, and the Water Framework Directive is also due for updating. Products from GEH Wasserchemie are used in both areas.

In addition, the company has looked beyond its own horizons: Many customers of GEH Wasserchemie are located outside Europe. "Arsenic hotspots" can be found in countries such as India, Chile, Argentina and the USA.
