GEH supports the projekt Sanagua
A large shortage of water of sufficient quality seriously affects the living conditions of the dryland communities in the west and north of Argentina. In particular, heavy metals such as arsenic drastically worsen the health situation of the farmers and their children living there. These are often severely affected by illness and even disability.
With the support of GEH Wasserchemie and its local partner, Mr. Walter Ewy of proH2O S.A., from September to December 2015, Enactus Mannheim has implemented a multi-component water treatment filter system. The core component of the system is a GEH filter for arsenic removal, which produces up to 2,000 liters of clean drinking water per day.
The treated water will be sold in cooperation with the local school for a cent amount to the population. This contribution enables the regular and professional maintenance of the filters as well as the implementation of new systems in similarly affected regions of South America. Further filters are to be implemented already in the spring of 2016.
